Dear Friends,
It is spring, and I have been fortunate to see the cherry blossoms in Japan. They only bloom for about two weeks and to see the delicate pink flowering trees everywhere is an indescribable sight. The falling petals look like confetti.

Ellen and Robert Redford at the panel discussion of "Fighting Goliath" |
I have had two wonderful experiences this past month. The first was interviewing Robert Redford about his environmental work during the past 40 years. He came to Houston to participate in the viewing and panel discussion of “Fighting Goliath”, a film commissioned by the Redford Institute at Sundance about the Texas coal wars. I was also very proud that my husband, Steve, whose law firm helped to defeat TXU in their plan to build 17 more coal plants, was on the panel.
Secondly, I had a wonderful experience giving the keynote speech at the Women’s Resource Luncheon. They asked me to speak about Change—something we’ve all heard a lot about this year! Writing the speech gave me time to reflect on second acts and new beginnings—which is what spring is all about.
I will be traveling until June, so until next time,

Ellen
